Q & A with Sorana Cîrstea: “The one that adapts quicker, that’s the one who gets the win”
Sorana Cîrstea had to win in tough condition against Maryna Zanevska. The match started in the rain and it continued pretty much throughout the whole match. The Romanian managed to adapt quickly and make the most of a dangerous situation. Moreover, she came back from a break down in the second set to finish the match in two sets, 6-2, 7-5, avoiding a longer match late in the night. Here’s what she had to say about this win:
You needed two days to win this match, how do you feel?
Yes, definitely, not an easy day. I’ve been here maybe 12 hours already; I think I’m hallucinating (laughter). Towards the end I just wanted to finish, didn’t matter how, but this is tennis, this is the beauty of it. The one that adapts quicker, that’s the best and she gets the win. I am very happy, now I need to go and recover for my next match.
Another Sorana Cîrstea style match, a lot of mistakes, but more winners today.
I’m winning the match and I’m losing the match, we already know that, but I’ve already committed to a certain style and in order for me to get better I need to believe in this and I believe this is my best game. I’m going to go for it no matter if I’m going to have a few mistakes here and there.
Was it an advantage for you to play on this weather?
It’s an advantage to play first of all at home and to have so many people supporting me so late. I can play on any conditions, and I think the conditions were good, I adjusted quite quickly.
