Krejcikova progresses into Bucharest quarterfinals
After losing the first set to love, Boslova had started the second set much better by using her powerful forehands to create herself four break opportunities on Krejcikova’s first two service games. All of them were saved by the Czech with great composure.
During the final point of the 3-2 game in the second set, Bolsova rolled her ankle in an unfortunate rally. “I really don’t know what happened because we were playing the point and somehow she turned. I tried to play the ball back again and then she was on the ground screaming. I didn’t know what was happening. The first idea was to try to help her, to get her ice. It’s always hard to look at someone like this in pain” said Krejcikova right after the incident.
For the Czech player, this will be the first WTA quarterfinals after her previous result in Bastad over two years ago. “It’s not the first time I am here and I really like it. This is why I came back again. The tournament is really perfect because they take really good care of us. The stadium is nice, the surroundings have a lot of grass and trees”.
In her next match, Krejcikova will face Martina Di Giuseppe who also reached the quarterfinals after the retirement of Veronika Kudermetova. The two players have not met prior to this match.
